Prayer Shawl Ministry
The prayer shawl ministry formed in 2014 under the leadership of Mary Moore. They meet every Thursday at 1:00 pm in the library to knit and crochet and have a devotion. In the past they have made prayer shawls for members and friends who are sick, shut-in and for babies at NICU at Holston Valley Medical Center.
Meals of Goodwill
Meals of Goodwill is an ongoing outreach ministry of Wheeler United Methodist Church every 2nd and 4th Thursday of the month. Hot and fresh cooked meals are delivered out of love and care to neighbors with no-strings-attached. While the ministry is geared toward acts of love for shut-ins, anyone is welcome to receive the meals offered by a host of volunteers (cooks and delivery drivers).
This popular annual outreach ministry is designed to spread God's love at Christmas to families of the Blountville community. The event culminates with a dinner and a delivery of presents from Santa in the Family Life Center. Volunteers begin collecting items and gifts in October and the fundraising for the event is year round.
School Supply Drive
At the beginning of each school year, members and friends of the church bring in school supplies and needed items for children in need at Holston Elementary School (adjacent to the church). When you see the shopping cart in the church narthex, help us stock up on school supplies for the children!
Food Backpack Program
Every fall and spring semester, volunteers from Wheeler United Methodist Church help deliver food collected in Piney Flats to children at Holston Elementary and Holston Middle School. We always need help with several dates throughout the semester.
Cookie Giveaway at Northeast State
During the fall and spring Exam Weeks, volunteers from Wheeler Church hand out thousands of free cookies to students at Northeast State Community College (located across the street) as a way to show God's love and to meet our neighbors.

Costa Rica Mission Trip

Every year around January and February, small groups in the church participate in collecting needed supplies for our conference's hands-on-mission kits that are usually shipped to our missionaries in either Liberia or Zimbabwe. They are usually school kits, clothing kits, health kits, or food buckets. And every year at Annual Conference, a highlight of the event is watching the thousands of kits assembled and loaded onto trucks and commissioned to be sent.
Imagine No Malaria Campaign
Wheeler UMC was proud to participate in the 2012-2013 Holston Conference goal to raise $1 million dollars to save 100,000 lives from malaria in Africa. The conferrence surpassed its goal in June 2013 by raising over $1.1 million. We continue to raise awareness about the ways we can help eliminate one of the world's most deadly killers. Wheeler helped to contribute to the cause with over $2,500 donated. Much of that was made possible because of Clayton Farmer, a member at Wheeler, who biked across the country to raise awareness for Imagine No Malaria.
